Not really. Relationships are so much more complex. Someone who appears to "wear the pants" on the surface may be dominated by their beau in deeper areas.

Of course. People play dominant and submissive roles in relationships all the time.

The ones who tend to make all the money, handle the finances, make life altering decisions that will affect the relationship in the long run etc are usually the dominant one. The submissive ones would be the more catering to their partner. Destiny's Child explained it perfectly in Cater 2 U.

Most heterosexual relationships are usually male/dominant female/submissive, and with gays it's usually top/dominant bottom/submissive.
