I usually don't refer to myself as a 'stan' because I've grown up with (mostly Melodic Death) Metal and my ventures into Pop music are rather recent and unexpected, so...
but I'm sure to step in if someone says something personally insulting or factually inaccurate

do you mean System of A Down?
we certainly listen to different kinds of Metal but it's some common ground nonetheless
I listen to bands like In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, Heaven Shall Burn, Kataklysm, Raunchy, Mercenary, Scar Symmetry, Mors Principium Est and lots of other lesser known ones
