It was Ke$ha's debut

900,000+ is a lot depending on the country you live in, so IDK why people though Roman's comment was shady.

With the exception of RR, the single choices were the least darkest tracks on the album. So the 'album didn't sell well because it was dark' argument doesn't hold up.
Photographs & Fire Bomb could have SMASHED but her label didn't take a chance on them.

Gaga...I've been on GagaDaily for half a year
I meant including Rihanna as one of my favorite artists...not putting her above the others if that's what you meant by 'conversion'

I actually think an album like Rated R that's a mix of "light" and "dark" songs is the best bet to sell a lot.
Happy clubby dancey pop albums aren't the hottest sellers.

Te Amo - 1,000,000 points.

Considering RR flopped in US, selling that much outside US where the markets aren't that big as that of US while reaching Top 10 status in all the charts it entered. I don't know what to call that if not 'mega hit outside US'.
Hard peaked within the Top 10 on Billboard and selling 1.7-1.8 million. I don't know if I should call it a flop. I mentioned smash not mega-smash.
I mentioned Te Amo as moderate hit, not a smash hit. 1 million point is the proof.

Indeed, for one region it's nothing to be embarrassed about
I still think they are just waiting for me to lash out
I have no reason though, I love the Rihanna fanbase here

If I ever was to re do Rated R era it would be like this.
release Hard 1st.. its much more of a lead single.
Release Hard in September (US ONLY) / Russian Roulette (WW)
FireBomb (November )
Rude Boy (February)
Photographs (May)
Cold Case Love (August)
we may have gotten Loud like in 2011 Springtime but it would still be ok.
Te Amo & Rockstar need not be released.

That leaves 2M for the rest of the world, I don't call that a "Mega hit".
Hard did good, but it wasn't a smash.
I mean, it didn't even sell 2,000,000.
1,000,000 points worldwide, isn't a moderate hit.

Ok, I gotta agree with Photographs but there's no way FB would smash. It's a fan favorite but I don't see it goin' nowhere beyond the circle of 'success' that R101 has had.
I thought we were talking about dark album not dark single choices? The overall theme of this album is dark. Even the cover of Rated R screams darkness.

Go check your UWC receipts back. RR didn't gain a grand total of 3,213,000 points. That was from 2010 only while it was selling the most around its release, which was 2009.
Hard is definitely a smash. Alejandro didn't sell 2 million yet and peaked within the Top 10 in US and people all go here and there sayin' it's a smash. Even 3 only surpassed the 2 million mark this week when it's been dead for months now. You don't have to be worried, it'll get there eventually(2 million).
Then what' should we call a song with 1 million points?

Yeah the album is darker, but in actuality it's not even really that dark.
But I hope you're not using that as an excuse for her not selling more. Because like I said, her single choices...

1. I started counting from its first week and the total was 3,213,000.
If you beg to differ, go count those numbers yourself.
2. Hard wasn't a smash, neither was Alejandro.
& I'm not worried at all honey, it already sold 1.9M+, it'll get there soon.
:scary:

If a song sold less than 1,000,000 worldwide, you call it a flop.

You're so shady Yeah, it's not a totally dark album and as I said, it was a darker route compared to her previous efforts.
Considering RR was a dark first single(let's not deny this one ), it screamed 'dark' to the buyers. First impression is really important. And again, she left a dark impression on the album because of the wrong single choice. Buyers probably decided they're not into dark albums, etc. After all, people have their different tastes in music.

So kind of you to help me count it We all know UWC didn't count from the first week of January to the last week of December. They have a different format to count the overall points garnered by a song.
Ok, 'll take Alejandro as not a smash . This is totally shocking considering it came out from a Gaga stan...and yes, similar to Alejandro, Hard will get there too, but of course it's gonna take its time.
If Te Amo is a flop. Then, I don't know what to call other lessors' singles. But yet again, the points are without the contribution of the US market. It won't go selling craploads.

Not surprised, it's a total let down compared to GGGB

As if those couple of weeks are gonna make a big difference.
& Alejandro wasn't a smash in the US, only a fool would say it was.
Worldwide, on the other hand....
