Albums are way harder to sell since they are a lot more expensive, thats why the only ones doing really well in that market are the ones that have a really loyal fanbase, like Bey and Gaga.
I have NEVER heard anyone trying to claim that single sales are more imortant than album sales.
There's a reason why the term "singles artist" is a negativ one.
