irreplaceable is the only song released in december that hit the #1 and it was 2007

November would be perfect. The song would have time to gain a concrete amount of airplay before the month of December where airplay is majorly affected. Digital sales would be more than excellent, of course.

you'll notice very few are released in november or december. In fact, since 2007 no #1 singles have been released in nov or dec. The most recent is Irreplaceable by Beyonce - released in dec 2006.

So here's what i think. Single in october if the album is going to be released in early 2011. Single in jan/feb if it's going to be released after the 3rd leg of the monster ball.

If we don't have a single by the end of October there's basically no chance of seeing the album in jan/feb.

Irreplaceable wasn't really released in December. It started climbing the charts due to airplay since November.

EDIT: And yes radio begins to lock up mid-late December, but that won't hurt the single. "Circus" is a single literally released in December and it moved up fine throughout December. GaGa certainly shouldn't have a problem since it'll be a radio return.

Wow, The Fame Monster is not an EP. EPs are like less than 30 minutes... TFM is about 40.
Plus the fact that Gaga considers it her sophomore effort...

TFM is actually 34:09 to be exact. And sophomore effort? She didn't exactly say second studio album, she said sophomore effort, so that could mean anything. And besides, Usher's Versus is considered an EP, and it's 37:51.

But I mean, I could go on and on about why TFM is an EP. I don't wanna though.

Sophomore efforts are never EPs though... they're always studio. 34 minutes is still close enough to 40 (and over 30), and Versus is too damn long to be an EP, no matter what Usher's label wants to call it.

I really don't understand the whole concept and why Gaga couldn't just be more upfront about it and not just saying it's a sophomore effort.

But then she called it her sophomore album... and if she was including EPs in that then Cherrytree Sessions would actually be her sophomore, because she released two EPs between The Fame/TFM.

And honestly I don't think Gaga knows a lot about the biz and its terms. For example, her thinking that selling 10 million worldwide gets her a diamond cert.
