he has been building his name for the last year + increasing public visibility + presence with all his songs + collabs

Exactly. It's not like Trey Songz's success just sprung out from some tour, he has been carefully building up his name and visibility with the public. He has done a ton of radio interviews, had a handful of hit songs keeping his name out there, his reality show and done many shows over the past year to develop a strong connection with his fans.
Ciara needs to be doing ALL of the above if you guys want her to be comparable to Trey's current position.
