Britney never used payola. The only era when she flopped on the radio was "Britney" and she was blacklisted on all US radios because of the mess with the tour company and the first greatest hits era.

"Blackout" started the dance revolution and people were craving for new Britney and they liked it. And the song weren't that big of a hits by peaks, they did amazing digitally though.

Radio loves her, everything besides RR & R101 did pretty well on airplay. Rude Boy, of course, did amazing. Hard even did well for the hit it was. R101 wasn't doing well anywhere until the VMA promo kicked in.
