And the album tanked after that, even with 4 Top 10 hits from the album. I would prefer a 2nd quarter release if they are so insistent on 2011.

Britney wouldn't tank obviously, but the units moved each week wouldn't be that all that great and going platinum would take over a month to do with tons of promo needed to help along the way. Unless she's prepared to promote her ass off everywhere, then releasing in January is a horrible idea.

If we got early 2011, it'd have to be February-March. January is the worse time, only because it's natural drop-off from the Holiday sales. February-March however, she's safe for people to buy the album.

EDIT: It also wouldn't really take tons of promo either. She'd have big 1st week, then naturally drop-off. Obviously however, if they are planning such an early release, their motive is promotion and longevity.

So what if it takes her a month or more to go platinum? Copies of The Fame didn't go flying off the shelves in its first week...or month...or couple of months. I think Brit would sell more copies of this album if she were to release it in January or February than Blackout and Circus combined. Why? Because it'll have 9-10 months to sell and once Christmas rolls around, a re-release could be done and it would sell TONS more.

But was The Fame released in January of 2008? NO! It was released in August 2008 and started smashing from October on out. It was consistent with its charting, but Gaga was everywhere in promoting the album and singles....still is to this day. If Britney is ready to put forth the effort and give us "ITZ or Britney" sized promo then I am all game.

I know. It makes me less excited when they release something before Christmas because it's what has been done for the past 4 albums. It's typical and safe.

I don't think it'll do anything for Brit's sales. She's so good at not promoting and selling that even if she does promote, it won't make a difference
