You mean the ones they've been doing in the MTV Newsroom blog?? I have no clue, actually. I don't really recall them doing a series like that in the past, in part because the guy who used to cover the VMAs on MTV before this year was AWFUL! His posts had a bunch of factual errors and things like that. Just bad...
But anyway, I don't know how correct their predictions are. I do remember sometimes they had articles with a few predictions, and those didn't always come true. Also, although many of the ones in this "Better Know a VMA Category" series seem to follow sound logic, not all of them do: For instance, they predicted that Best Dance Video was ripe for an upset this year, so expect David Guetta to beat the favorite, Lady Gaga, this year. This would make sense if it wasn't for the fact that the underdog
rarely (if ever) won Best Dance Video. Dirty Vegas, Sean Paul, etc., have never won it, while Madonna, MIchael Jackson, 'N Sync, etc., have.
Same with their editing prediction. Rihanna's "Rude Boy" is the most reliant on heavy and fast-paced editing, so it could win. However, when was the last time they had a video like that win?? In fact, vids like "Move Along" and "The Hardest Button to Button" lost in their years. In the end, it's just an MTV staffer giving his predictions. He may be a bit more 'in the know' because of his working for MTV, but I doubt he'll get all of them right.
