I mean.. to me the whole Rated R era seemed lazy, it could've been much bigger. I think they just wanted to quickly drop it and start a new one because they had new ideas, cool tracks etc... imo
Rihanna was on The “RihannaDaily” Chat box yesterday where she revealed some news to the fans.
On Twitter: She said she likes Twitter, but every thing she tweets get quoted on all the sites the day after.
On Her New Single: She said “Only Girl” is going to be better than “Rude Boy” and that the second single will be even better.
On The New Album: She didnt want to say the names of the tracks on the New Album yet, but she also said she doesnt want to do a remake of Good Girl Gone Bad”, but she wanted to go a step further in the Rihanna evolution. The album is completely done now.
This stuff has been posted before but the bolded part is something that I haven't read before...
personally if the 2nd single is gonna be better than Only Girl, then release that instead
If Im being honest... I think that Rated R could have performed MUCH MUCH BETTER if Def Jam did it well......
They wanted to release a powerful song to change rihanna's image after what everyne knows WHAT happened.... But the single choice was wrong....
It should have been Fire Bomb first.
Then Rude Boy to break the sad image and launch the album definitely.
After that I would have released Photographs in the english markets and Te Amo in europe.
Then go with Hard in the US and Russian Roulette in Europe.
And then Te Amo in the english markets and Photographs in europe
I think it could have sold 4-5 Millions like that and probably Fire Bomb go Top3 instead of top10 and Rude Boy sell a little more and of course hit the #1 too. Also photographs would have been #1 in the UK (Im 99% sure of that ) and top5 in the US. And then hard top10 in the US and top20 in the UK. And Te Amo top 20 in the US and top20 in the UK.
Base Magazine tweeted:
As for one of the songs we heard, You guys know it as "Adrenaline Rush" but we know it as "Who's That Girl"! It may be on the album!
Personally the Rated R era would've gone much better if they didn't release Russian Roulette as first single and just went to Hard, then Rude Boy, then from their its debateable but still release Rockstar101/Te Amo, Fire Bomb, and Photographs

Rated R had a lot of potential more potential than GGGB to be honest......BUT def jam screwed it up bad. I hope this upcoming album rihanna takes control and releases what she wants.....
A new album each year, I guess she is back with the old formula, she works so hard, so fast, it's impressive cause even with limited time, she always knows how to pick the hits & great songs for her albums! Happy for the Riri stans!
