Last.fm is not all-encompassing, and the people who actually do use it OBVIOUSLY favor certain types of music. It's not an absolute representation of anything.

40 million is an objectively high number (assuming all the accounts are active, anyway...I know I don't use mine very often), but that's not even 7% of the world population. Just saying...
I don't see why there's disagreement. It's obvious from the top artists chart that certain types of music predominate on that particular site, as Captain Planet said.

lastfm split my scrobblings into 2 even tho I fixed all my tags to "P!nk" from "Pink". Somehow, the majority of my plays are showing up under "Pink". Such a mess. That's why I stopped using Lastfm a long time ago.
Still has the best voice out of them all
