And Linkin Park is definitely a popular group. I don't really agree with using social media as a measure of absolute popularity either, but when they're the 5th ranked music act, it does speak something of their popularity. What will sink them is if their core fanbase doesn't like their sound on this album. The Catalyst has been getting mixed reviews from LP fans. I still expect them to break 250k though, no lower.

LOL @ people doubting Linkin Park. As benzene_dream said, only way they don't push units is if the fans don't like the sound...and honestly I'm not liking "The Catalyst" compared to their other singles/albums.

People should never underestimate Linkin Park. They've got a lot of albums under their belt and have been making music for a long time.

Linkin Park will probably sell at least 300K first week. That's worst-case scenario IMO. With a hit single of some type, I imagine more than 400K.

Britney debuted with 120,500, not that big. And given the current state of the music market, I don't think any big album is going to sell like they did in 1999.

Well....I still am really confused how its selling more than 10k per week with NO single at radio.

Gaga's impact on pop culture is comparable to Britney's debut (although maybe not quite at that level). Her album sales have far outdone any other pop act out there right now, in addition to her already colossal singles' sales.
