mediatraffic says it sold 2.4 copies and her label says official sales are 3 Millions.
And u guys only say that she had to cancel some shows.... but u dont say she sold 90% in the other 50 shows she did. and she still has to do her australian leg (from which 3 shows are sold out already....)
maybe it didnt match the expectations that everyone had for GGGB's successor but the kind of music she presented wasnt the same of her last works, so I find the figures pretty good for what it is. VERY FEW artists can say that they sold 3 Million albums and more than 11.000.000 singles worlwide from an album. Its not the 8 million albums and 35.000.000 singles that GGGB sold, but its nowhere near to bad sales.
People need to stop calling Rated R a chart disappointment. If 2.4 million copies sold worldwide is considered poor performance by some people, that's a shame.
I'm actually seriously looking forward to this, she better not let me down! She's working with great producers and hopefully it'll be more Rude Boy and GGGB-era. I want her back to getting 5+ consecutive top 10s.

That's honestly what I want too...I never really payed attention to Rihanna until Umbrella.

Yeah, I think pre-Umbrella she was one of a few artists that had a couple of hits under their belt but GGGB made her a superstar I get that she wanted to be more edgy and have more creative control but as far as her look and music goes, that era was where she shone
I don't understand why some people here treat GGGB like it was some mindless, bubblegum album. Maybe compared to Rated R it was, but when you really listen to that album it was sophisticated, edgy, sort of dark, and the hooks weren't generic (except for maybe a song or two).
I hope she works with Brian Kennedy and Chase & Status again because they're really good at striking a balance between songs that are catchy but have substance at the same time.
Who produced Take A Bow, whoever it was I want him/them on this album!

IKR. "Umbrella" was more artistic/creative/innovative than anything on "OVERated R". And was STILL a #1 smash.
