Here in the u.s. I feel like slave didn't do good bc of the 9/11 attacks. Everybody started listing to patriotic songs... Just my opinion

I think even America would have recognized the greatness of "Unusual You". It charted on the pop songs and hot digital tracks after the album release.

It would have slayed in Europe for sure though.

Britney was virtually banned from all Clear Channel owned radio stations after she declined their services and switched to another tour promoter which also handles most theaters in the USA to benefit her then upcoming debut movie Crossroads. It was all business strategy that Clear Channel took personally. Slave 4 U started gaining grounds on airplay until the falling off of two parties caused it to stagnate. :cry:

EDIT: I found a statement from Britney herself regarding the matter. Everybody remain silent as The Queen speaks.

"Clear Channel is an incredible company, and I'm sure we'll be doing more business with them. We went with Concerts West because they're a strong touring company and because they have ancillary properties, in that [parent AEG owns] arenas and some 7,000 movie theaters throughout the country. This decision was not made to exclude Clear Channel. It was made to include Concerts West. [AEG] has the ability to help us market our core products—the album and tour—and our secondary properties—the movie— in ways that tipped the scale for us."

They should have done that for more singles, I think she only had 4 physically released, I'm not 100% sure though.

Official CD-singles? I believe there were only three: "...Baby One More Time", "From The Bottom of My Broken Heart" and "Stronger". Others, like "I'm A Slave 4 U" and "Me Against The Music", for example, had Maxi-singles/Vinyls.

I always thought that the song was a bit too short and I hated that transition between the 2nd bridge and 2nd chorus.

"Slave" was a worldwide top 5, "Overprotected" and "I'm Not A Girl" were top 10 worldwide and "Boys" was a top 20 hit. "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" flopped in most countries though.

And "Dirty" was a flop in the US and was did quite poorly worldwide. "Slave" was a bigger hit US and worldwide.

I loved Christina's tribute to the rain scene in "Overprotected" though.

Overprotected and Not A Girl could have def been top 10 hits.

I'm not sure, but if so, it wasn't a proper CD-single. Like I mentioned, we've had a few maxi/vinyl releases, but those are usually very limited so they don't have a significant effect.
