Winning over Casual listeners is NOTHING for Album sales. Casual Listeners buy SINGLES not Albums and That is what I think will end up happening here but releasing in a season without Gaga might play to her Advantage. .
I think I failed to relay what I truly meant about my statement relating Katy Perry to P!nk. What I'm trying to make realize is that Katy Perry may never be a household name but that doesn't equate to a possible dent of selling power. Just like P!nk, she's not the most visible popstar of her generation but her sales stand for herself.
I don't think you can comment on her fanbase until the album is released, the only things released since OOTB has smashed, she could have a huge fanbase now, we can't comment until the first week sales are in.

Completely get what you're saying and it makes sense but I think Katy could possibly become a stand-out with this new era. The "OOTB" era fit that last sentence perfectly but this one could very well be her breakout album ala "Breakaway/Good Girl Gone Bad".
^Ke$ha's album was more of a fluke. I really have no idea how she got that much her first week. Not that I'm complaining, though.
It was $6.99 on iTunes and her opening week sales were something like 70% digital... When they finally put it up to $9.99 in the third week then it had a big drop.
There are some people who are saying that she will be able to sell 700k in the first week.
I'll say anywhere from 150k to 200k. Her fanbase is growing, but not yet to the point where she will be able to sell like Eminem. A few successful singles and she will be at a million in no time.
