I bet you didn't say the same thing when "Rude Boy" was #1 for 5 weeks thanks to the huge airplay and it peaked only at #2 on Digital Sales. At least California Gurls has been #1 for several weeks on Digital Sales. I can't say the same thing about Rude Boy, a song that NEVER hit #1 on Sales
Its easy to see that LTWYL is WAY more popular than california gurls right now.... It has sold 80K more copies this week and even if the radio airplay is huge for Cali gurls that cant make a song stay at #1.
I think Sales should count at least 60% and then if you wanna give importance to radios it should count as half of the digital sales points. around 30% and then the streaming another 10% but counting the real views, that means counting vevo (which is the most popular) and that would make an accurate chart. But right now... its a mess.... lol
If this was the way, Rude Boy was number #1 for one\2 weeks the most (and it might not be at all)

Britney, Gwen, Justin & Madonna were doing it before BEP and Gaga.
They definitely were.
But you also cannot deny the influence of BEPs and GaGa on this NEW generation.
The way "Just Dance" struggled before it exploded and ushered in the GaGa phenomenon, and the way "Tik Tok" just blew up much faster on radio, is indicative of the 'thank you' cards Ke$ha should be sending Lady GaGa daily.
Agreed, I'm really over it. Plus most of them sound exactly the same and have a less than talented singer with tons of auto-tune.
Thankfully we haven't seen another major new singer who relies on Auto-Tune too much. Like, I will respect some of these artists like Enrique because they are experimenting with the sound but can still sing. I am just afraid a byproduct of this new trend will be more Ke$has. I love Ke$ha and she is amazing, but one of her is enough.
