Hmm, I still don't see the logic in that though. I just feel that they would probably make more by releasing $5 EPs with a few songs AND have success digitally. They have to pay the songwriters, producers, artists and everyone else involved with the project. But I guess.

Quite frankly they should be doing that, but they aren't because the recording industry is so behind the times that they still think the old format works. Except with rare artists, it just doesn't work anymore. These companies still break even on most "flop albums" cuz even if they sell a meager amount, the contracts these labels have with the artist is so bad that the label gets most of the profit anyway. New artists get raped on their contracts, they make nothing on album sales. That's why stuff like ringtones and digital singles have become so big over the past few years. They make money on that and touring.
Anyway just cuz an album "flops" doesn't mean the artist is a "flop"...like I said Flo Rida is a HUGE success and hes never even had an album go gold..Taio Cruz's album is certified tin foil but guess what he's a miliionaire anyway off of singles, ringtones and touring.
The Flo Rida method of living off of hit singles is gonna be big in the next few years, I think you're gonna see a lot of artists popping up like him, jason derulo, etc. caking off that format.
