to me Baby Can't You See is Toxic I can't picture it without thinking of Toxic...
Same here.
I do remember that mixtape rumor though, and 'Baby Can't You See' was listed in one of those writing credits' website as a Neptunes track.

Actually, 'Toxic' was only "way bigger" in the US. Worldwide, MATM had 4 weeks at #1 and 8 weeks Top 3, against 'Toxic' 5 weeks on top and 10 inside the Top 3.

If Toxic spent 5 weeks at #1 and 10 on Top 3 it was, chart-wise, bigger than MATM...

Err, did I say it wasn't bigger? I only said it wasn't "way bigger". 10 to 8 and 5 to 4 is not that much of a difference when we think 'Toxic' is always remembered as, like you said, the signature song and hit of that era.
everyone lost they **** when she started performing this i love how unexpected it was, still no idea what possessed her to add this to the setlist random
I only want Britney to go to this awful premiere because I am, like ALWAYS, in the mood for a hot and beautiful all dressed up Britney.
+1

I love "Before The Goodbye". A shame it didn't make the cut.

I agree about the vocals, as of the opening album material, well, it's def' a single material, it was an era every song she would have been released would have been eaten up by radios so since this is a super radio friendly track and one that sticks into your head, like it's been doin' to me again the last 2 days, I think it could be a great 1st single, maybe not the best but still, could be a good one.
It got this epic vibe in it, I just know it would have been a hugh smash, even as second or w/e single.
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED!
She had one top 40 charting song on the Hot 100 during the "Britney" era.
"Overprotected" was in the top 90.
I'm sorry but "Before The Goodbye" is nowhere near single material, for the U.S. at least.
One unreleased song I wish would resurface again is "Baby Can't You See." It was played YEARS ago 1time on a radio station down here in VA during a mixshow hour dedicated to the Neptunes and was on some mixtape. Most definitely should've ended up on Britney but still see why it was left off.
Anywho, since "Before..." was a proposed lead single, how do y'all feel about the time when either "Outrageous" or "Shadow" were supposed to be lead singles from the epic In The Zone?
Outrageous
"Shadow" is epic, maybe even her best ballad and song. Her vocals, the music, the lyrics.

It's not a single material at all comapred to the other songs on the album.
A shame "Boom Boom", "The Hook Up" and "Shadow" weren't singles, I just know she could have gotten 6 worldwide #1's in a row.
^ Breathe On Me and Boom Boom were planned to be released as subsequent singles after 'Outrageous'. Britney campaigned for the song and succeeded. Unfortunately, the knee injury impeded any future single releases from the album, including the scrapping of Outrageous.
Even though it's a great track, I somehow don't think "Breathe On Me" would have worked as a single. :/

"Overprotected" was in the top 90.
She was blacklisted by a huge group of radio stations (including the ones like Z100 and KIIS) because their company wasn't accepted as the sponsor of DWAD tour...
With airplay ruling the Hot 100, She would, of course, have bad chart peaks, but she still managed to have memorable hits and had hits (and chart positions) everywhere else...

Yeah, and it gained 5.564.000 points on the United World Chart, while "Me Against The Music" gained "only" 5.360.000. "Toxic" had 5 weeks @ #1 and had better longevity (24 weeks on the chart), while "Me Against The Music" spent 4 weeks at the top spot and 18 weeks on the chart. "Me Against The Music" had a higher debut, but after its peak it started falling really fast.
