What da heck... 'Before The Goodbye' confirmed as the 1st single? Only think I remember is it being axed from the album final cut due to problems with the producer. And I agree with Kirsten, I don't see it as a 1st single... It is AMAZING though.

I agree about the vocals, as of the opening album material, well, it's def' a single material, it was an era every song she would have been released would have been eaten up by radios so since this is a super radio friendly track and one that sticks into your head, like it's been doin' to me again the last 2 days, I think it could be a great 1st single, maybe not the best but still, could be a good one.

It got this epic vibe in it, I just know it would have been a hugh smash, even as second or w/e single.

Britney premiered the song at KISS (?) and confirmed that it will be the first single from her new album, which was "Britney" during that time. The Queen did all of that without Jive's permission, neither did they confirm anything about the song's fate in the final pressings of the album. I think Britney's initiative kinda made the big wigs upset over her impudent move in public.

I'm sorry but "Before The Goodbye" is nowhere near single material, for the U.S. at least.

One unreleased song I wish would resurface again is "Baby Can't You See." It was played YEARS ago 1time on a radio station down here in VA during a mixshow hour dedicated to the Neptunes and was on some mixtape. Most definitely should've ended up on Britney but still see why it was left off.

Anywho, since "Before..." was a proposed lead single, how do y'all feel about the time when either "Outrageous" or "Shadow" were supposed to be lead singles from the epic In The Zone?

OTYK Wouldn't have made a fantastic single really..but I understand at her taking some initiative, she wanted to be in control of her career.

I guess that was very early in 2001, right? Cause I admit I wasn't a big stan then, but something like this I'm sure I'd have read somewhere.

Anywayz, cool. But again, I don't think it would work as a 1st single... Maybe 2nd or 3rd though.

I guess the 'Shadow' thing was merely a rumor. 'Outrageous' was Jive's and R.Kelly's wish and thank God for Britney getting Madonna and stopping that nonsense. I like the track, but it's no 1st single material.

Shadow would have made a good single but obviously Everytime was the ballad single from In The Zone, I love both of the songs, both would have done well. Everytime did very well.
