Music News: Christina Aguilera flops. Ciara stalls. Are the top divas of

This thread is a joke
The pop music scene fluctuates as much as Kirstie Alley's weight. You never know who will flop or who will rise to the top. You can't count anyone out either. Mariah Carey is a perfect example. Everyone thought she was done until they were proven wrong by TEOM & she was the #1 popstar again

WRONG! Disturbia was still on the charts MONTHS after it peaked and all she had to do was talk about recording with 'JAY-Z' and the fans plumped right back on her, SO SIT!

They're trying to push the remix with Andre 3000 to Pop.

I'm not making excuses for Ciara, but Urban (and I use this word lightly) isn't dominating the charts, particularly iTunes, right now. If this was 2000-2005, that would be a different story.

Rihanna may not have a number one album, or sell that much in her first week, but she has LONGEVITY and is a HUGE singles artist.
And Rihannas tour in Europe wasnt HUGELY successful because of the Chris Brown thing. It was cause it was Rihanna. People wouldnt say "Oh, she got beat up, lemme buy a $50 ticket." NO. Shes still successful.

You're right, because after her first week sales, her albums stop selling right?

And Jive not sending the song to Pop radio could play a factor in it as well.

Well, "Ride" is performing well at its core format, so what's the issue? It's performing much better than "Go Girl," which didn't even make the last album.
Like I said, Ciara needs Urban support before she can get support from anywhere else. Of course something like "Ride" would get lost in the bunch. That doesn't mean it can't have success elsewhere.

I'm annoyed that Alicia Keys was even brought into the equation. The Element of Freedom may have not been her biggest success in the U.S. but she's never been bigger everywhere else. She's had three top 10 hit's in the UK which is huge for her, especially with the limited success she had in the past around the World. Alicia is still a star and this journalist is sad for forgetting it.
However, Katy Perry and Ke$ha will be off the charts in 2 years time, just like Ciara is at the moment, which is sad for me to say as I'm still a fan of CiCi's, despite this new album.

Why wouldn't they send it to Pop though? It could only help the song, so they never know what would happen until they tried it. If they wait too long for the remix, it won't go anywhere. Hopefully they'll release Blauw to Pop later this year, that song will go places.

Chile, what are you talking about? Is that Rated R is tumbling down the charts and "Rockstar 101" ain't doing anything?

Yeah, you can compare her albums with Rihanna's. Then only album that was on the chart longer than GGGB was her first album. AGLM and GGGB and RR have all stayed in the top 50 longer than many Britney albums.

Gurl please. Katy Perry is shittin on radio, and is no.1 song in America selling ove 1 million copies in 4 weeks. Katy is going nowhere. And Ke$ha is here to stay too. In about 5 years, we can then talk about their longevity

Let's discuss the: "Rihanna is a single artist and will fare just as JLO & Ashanti did'
First off: WRONG
Some of you fail to realize CULTURAL IMPACT. No matter if she didn't go #1 or isn't the biggest opening week sales, Rihanna has achieved Cultural Impact around the world. Those other girls did it in their neighborhoods. So, NEXT

Well, they had an adds date for Pop, but they pulled out. I think they did in order to release the remix with Andre 3000 to Pop instead.

But in the big scheme, Britney will be more successful and sell more because she'll have the longevity. Like others said, over the past 11 years she's had the huge "Britney" brand, and you can't argue with the fact that she's a global icon and there will always be a mystery about her and an interest in her.

Rockstar 101 is 61 on pop, less than two weeks after it was released, and its her fourth single. Its doing absolutely fine.

Stupid in Love and Hard commercial?
You should listen to the radio a bit more. Have you ever heard the radio play songs like; Hard, Stupid in Love, Russian Roulette, Photographs, Te Amo, Cold Case Love, G4L, The Last Song, Wait Your Turn?
Not Myself Tonight peaked at #3 in iTunes and it performed better on the radio than Ride. Xtina's fan base is way bigger than Ciara's. Christina's previous albums sold a lot more than Ciara's.
If Christina couldn't do it, why do you think Ciara will be able to?
