Monica was HUGE on Rhythmic, and Urban radio stations. She attracted many listeners, and brought back many of her fans, and was huge back in her day, so it was like her "comeback." Ciara wasnt big enough to have a comeback and her last album (Makings of Me) was still was more successful than Fantasy Ride.

When No Doubt comes back this year, I have a feeling there's going to be many Gwen Stefani/Lady GaGa comparisons.

And it's too soon to say Christina and Ciara's new albums are flops because of one single. Russian Roulette wasn't the biggest single for Rihanna but she recovered the album with Rude Boy and Hard. I have a feeling that they'll recover too. We know Ride and NMT are terrible leading single choices. If Ciara released Blauw to Urban, R&B, and Pop then she'd be getting tons of airplay because it's more pop-friendly. If Christina released Bionic, Woohoo, or I Hate Boys (:-/ about this one though) then she'd probably be doing better too.

You can't expect huge album sales, but you should be able to expect better single choices.
