Here is MTV's review. The video made a lot more sense after reading it:
Quote:
Lady Gaga turned herself into a sex slave monster in "Bad Romance," and kinda hinted at hooking up with Beyonce in her "Telephone" video. And today we get a look at Gaga's brand-new "Alejandro" video! And, surprise surprise! The homoeroticism continues!
Reminiscent of "Like A Prayer" era Madonna -- remember when she set those crosses on fire? Bad Madonna! Very bad! -- Gaga's "Alejandro" video could be interpreted as Gaga striking out at organized religion's repression of sexuality and homosexuality. Those soldiers who look an awful lot like Nazis? (Calm down! We're 150% confident Gaga's the last person on earth you could peg as a Nazi sympathizer. They're REFERENCES, people. REFERENCES.) Perhaps we have Gaga's version of stomping out gay persecution, homophobia, and intolerance. Is "Alejandro," which features Gaga dressed like a hot lady version of the Pope, a stylistic statement against religion's oppression of sex? Especially gay sex? Or maybe Gaga just likes to dominate perfectly chiseled men cross-dressing in fishnets and heels. Fine with us. Gaga herself said that the video is "a celebration of my love and appreciation for the gay community," and she definitely delivers plenty of gay. Strip away all of the militaristic symbolism and love games and Gaga's inability to get with her gay friends, and the takeaway feels like "Alejandro" is Gaga's eff you to homophobes.
Directed by photographer Steven Klein, the 8-minute-plus "Alejandro" video eventually begins to feel like the type of fashion film Alexander McQueen would've projected at one of his runway shows. Even after she conducts an orgy that defies sexual labeling, there's a subtle air of detachment on Gaga's behalf. Stunning, even in shades of grey, Gaga's on the outside looking in, almost like a super steampunk mother monster figure. Toward the end, the "Alejandro" video morphs into a visual retrospective of the video itself with Gaga doing a two-gun Fosse salute. (At which point Gaga once again incinerates herself. Please stop self-destructing, Gaga!) And who else besides Gaga can pull that off? Well, besides Madonna

Basically, and it's sad at this point.
But hey, if you don't have haters you're a nobody. The video was awesome, the imagery was beautiful, and it was visually stunning. At the end of the day whether the comments are positive or negative people will discuss the video and keep watching it.
Mission accomplished Gaga!

#Fail
TBH The first 2 minutes were epic and I was Actually really feeling it but then it got more and more redundant and disgusting as it went on. .
ALmost feels like she tried TOO hard to stereotype gays and it just came across as a Contrived and forced attempt to Woo gay fans by implying that they are nothing more than horny drag queens

Love it. You talk about morality and dishonoring women, but take a petty swipe at GaGa's femininity in the same post. What a crock of ****.

Amazed: no product placement.
But I don't get the lingering shots on those two men, the one on the bed and the commander or something. What are their roles? Is one Alejandro?

This video says SO MUCH about Don't Ask, Don't Tell as well as religion's treatment toward the gay community.
