Sometimes it's just about timing. Look at Julianne Moore. Her role in Still Alice was average but she was overdue and it was weak year.

I think Leo has given better performances than the one in The Revenant as well.

they should campain hard and get her noms in Arrival for leading role and in Nocturnal Animals for supporting role.

they did that with Kate Winslet, she got noms for Revolutionary Road and The Read in two categorioes in one year (through even both roles were leading)
