IMDb ratings are always ridiculously high for new releases.
The score will most likely drop as more votes come in.
Except La La Land's rating listed in the Top 250 is 8.5.. But when you go to the movie's page it is actually 8.9 It has been climbing steadily, I saw it at #31 yesterday.
IMDb's top 250 is a joke. The site is overpopulated by nerdy white men who stan for Tarantino/Nolan/any other white male director that's been a success from the 80s to today
But good for La La Land i guess
Sag + Globe nominee Goddess Streep who dragged her film to 3 more Globe noms and will give a wonderful speech there will prevail over the doubters and haters.
La La Land would be one of the most worthy Best Picture wins in awhile tbh. I love Moonlight more but it seems like Ali is the only thing happening for it at the Oscars.
I want someone to make a movie with Emma Stone, Amy Adams and Isabelle Huppert playing the same character at different time periods of her life, kinda like what I understand Moonlight to be (correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't seen it yet)
It's pretty impressive how acclaimed the apparent T3 are. Previous BP nominees this century with at least A- on Metacritic
2015: Spotlight
2014: Boyhood
2013: Slave, Gravity...Her (91)
2012: ...Amour, Zero Dark Thirty
2011: n/a

2009: Hurt Locker

Mahershala Ali is Moonlight's Patricia Arquette.
Legend Portman winning her second Oscar after producing the one-two punch of Jane Got A Gun and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Who else is doing it?
Arrival will be the real loser of the night
Disqualified in Original Score (its highest chance to win one )
Moonlight competing in Adapted
Amy Adams trailing Stone and Portman in Actress
La La Land sweeping all the techs/crafts
The only way it can get one award is to Ex-Machina its win in Visual Effects

Dear Lord, she really needs a better agent or she has to learn to say no. The Heyday of Insensitive Bastards is another disaster waiting to happen Weightless probably will be a disaster, The Death and Life Of John F. Donovan has a really big cast so I don't think she has much to do, at this point Annihilation is the only movie she has that doesn't seem like a complete disaster

I agree, and it is such a shame tbh. It seems like it will be the American Hustle of this year (the irony of Adams leading both )
