I think the evidence to make that claim is a little unclear, because do we know how much of that money is due to the historical significance of the monarchy? I don't think people come to London to be in the presence of the monarchs, because the chances of that happening are very slim. Removing the monarchy wouldn't remove the history, the architecture, etc. I think that is what attracts people. The allure would last.

Initially. Over 3 billion people are predicted to watch her funeral. Everything would be cancelled, and even the television schedule changes - no comedy shows. London stock exchange closes, banks shut down, etc. Loss of > £6 billion to the economy.

We've had long enough to prepare for the eventuality so unless she dies tragically like Diana, the aftermath and her funeral is ready.

It's a scary thought really. None of us have lived long enough to not know the world without her
