I've a feeling that if he's messy and doesn't get much done, and his approvals are really low, and it looks likely the Dems will pick a good candidate, then he'll let someone else get the nomination. He'll be 74, after all. And the stardom of being president probably won't be feeding his ego as much in 2020.
If he decides to run, he'll be in a good position imo. He won't run if he knows that there is a good chance he'll lose. Will hurt his precious ego too much.

He won't.
The democratic party is still not addressing the core issues as to why they not only lost the presidency but the house and senate majority.
They are still in the blame game and encouraging many of their liberal followers to do what they've done over the past 6 weeks.
I think the focus will be on critiquing Trump's every move and finding a candidate that can get younger voters enthused...it can only work if Trump and the Republican party don't produce.
I think many people understand that the Republican party is aware that this is their prime moment.
They might not ever had this chance again since 1928 was the last time the trinity reigned at the same time.
This makes me believe further they will produce and 2020 will have stronger results than 2016.
Keeping in mind the millions of people that didn't vote trump but would normally vote Republican and the dems and independents that see the results and will be on board.
I have a feeling...
