- Camila and her camp wanted the group to go on hiatus so that she could pursue her solo career.
|
So... she wanted to stay in the group? But they said no?
She's done nothing wrong

They better let the 4 of them make another album. I swear if Epic drops them, it will be a huge mistake.

You're so obsessed with them.
I'm not sure where you learned to read, but it says that she wanted the group to go on hiatus. Epic and Simon said no, so she decided to leave to pursue her solo endeavors.

She left about a year too soon. She basically pulled the plug on the whole group because she simply could not wait to leave...smh
7/27 sales were tragic but WFH was a huge hit this year and their name was growing. It's sad it ended like this

Getting confirmation for just how little she valued the group and how badly she wanted to focus SOLELY on her solo career feels like such a betrayal to me as a fan. Viewing the group as a platform for a solo career is one thing. Viewing it as a liability that you desperately need to escape so you can have all the attention on you is completely different. And what makes it even worse is that she was ALREADY the one getting the most solos and attention in the group. She should have been the last one out of the five of them to feel like she needed a stronger spotlight on her.
I remember defending her during IKWDYLS because I genuinely believed that even though she wanted to explore solo interests, she still had the group's best interests in mind. But clearly that wasn't the case. All that talk about her just "wanting some creative expression and individuality" that the group wasn't allowing her turned out to be complete and utter bull**** because her contract allowed her to do that AND remain part of the group, and yet she STILL didn't want to remain part of the group despite that.
I honestly just feel disgusted. 5H's fanbase was one of the most passionate and committed fanbases in pop music, and she hasn't appreciated that in the past year and a half, even AFTER Work From Home was such a huge success. Whatever, I guess all we can hope for now is that Epic isn't short-sighted and lets the girls who actually see the value in this group go on with it.

Fff why does it matter if she stayed or left if ATRL, their fans, and even the group wanted Camila out?

Btw, on a side note, I'd much rather the girls being on a different label tbh.

Basically she wanted to use the girls as a backup plan.
I doubt she would of reunited with the girls if her solo project was successful.

I don't care about 5H. I'm ready for her debut and I hope her album slays Why do western groups always break up just because one member wants a solo career? Asian groups have solo and group activities. The unnecessary drama.

If there's a backlash beyond the fan army turf war, it may be due to the way the announcements were handled. Unlike One Direction, another X Factor-spawned group, where exiting member Zayn Malik released a statement at the same time as his former bandmates and Cowell ("I have to do what feels right in my heart,” Malik's read, followed by praise for the group that put him on the global map), a source close to Cabello tells Billboard she was "completely blindsided” by the post on the official Fifth Harmony social channels (the group boasts 3.65 million Twitter followers and 7.5 million Facebook likes), which squarely put the onus of the departure on her. "This all [stems from] the girls' jealousy,” says the insider. "You've read this story a million times.”
What happened to precipitate a pre-emptive post by the four girls is a subject of some debate, although it seems there were a few attempts to structure a joint announcement -- ultimately unsuccessful. And it's not helping that Harmonizers are up in arms over leaked audio of group members complaining of being treated "like slaves." But by whom is also unclear.
"The whole thing was handled horribly,” says Los Angeles radio personality Chris Booker of AMP Radio, adding the caveat, "which, in 2016, is a very good thing because it's a headline -- that's the game now. If the remaining ladies of 'Fourth Harmony' say nice things, it's a nonstory.” Still, the veteran jock notes that a modicum of decency is called for in situations where a key member is exiting. Says Booker: "The right response from Fifth Harmony should have been, 'We love you, girl, we will miss you, go slay the world, blah, blah f---ing blah.'”

This is what I was thinking whoever decided to handle this this way is wrong... bad press for both. Obviously Camila more as this happened because of her but the statements of he said/she said are messy af. 1D did it the right way they were obviously hurt/mad but did not release a statement at 12;01 am to make Zayn look bad. This drama was supposed to happen because the situation is messy anyways but those messy statements by both were tragic. Both should've done it in a polite way, we wish you the best bye bye and Camila just should've been like I'm greateful, I love y'all, etc etc.

This is what I will never understand.
They want her to leave, until she actually does. Then she's a selfish bitch.

You honestly think this publicity has beenbad for them? Well its probably not great for the group because it makes them look like they're falling apart.
But its doing wonders for Camila. Her name is being blasted out everywhere. Not to mention the perfect timing, as people can connect the dots to her being the chick in the Bad Things song. This is the kinda press any upcoming musician would kill for. The irony is that 4H brought this on themselves when they decided to take the messy route in how they announced it all.
