The historical precedent doesn't even account for "deadness". He literally just has to be white and make alternative rock/pop music.

Lemonade being so critically acclaimed is what's really unprecedented and refreshing in terms of critical bias leaning away from pop album (especially those crafted by females (especially the dark ones)).
