I came up with the idea because I've been thinking a lot lately about how "Over The Rainbow" and David Bowie's "Lazarus" both have significant references to bluebirds, which are apparently a commonly used symbol for happiness (Bowie also uses it as a symbol of freedom, also relevant in my song). Then it occurred to me that the color blue is symbolic of sadness, and how odd it is that blue is sad but bluebirds are happy, so I kinda tried to play off that a bit. Glad that you noticed and liked it!
And girl don't @ me about what I had to do to rhyme with "bird."
I actually just heard the word "encumbered" in a song I listened to recently, but I can't remember what song.
