I have never seen one for a single in my life. I don't think the US ever did that.
UK cares about buying music so much more. The fact those NOW compilations sell like 250,000 in a week...
We have CD adverts but only on cable channels. Midgets 24k Midget ad is on every commercial break. They even do concert ads, Princess's Dangerous Woman Tour ad is on pretty often too.
If he sent a private message instead of tweeting, he'd have a bunch of angry teenagers who don't know jack **** (although they think they actually know a lot) spamming his mentions for the next 3 years, and i doubt he wants that!
