Omg my music professor spilled so much tea on the music industry today. She said she has a friend who gets flown down to Hollywood by producers to record for other artists on their own tracks.
She also said that there are certain artists who will pre-record multiple live versions of the album while they're recording the album to be lipped for when those artists perform at events or on tour. And each version will have slight variations - like different runs, ad libs, etc. - just so people don't think they're lipped.
