It hasn't been proven, you can literally hear it with your own ears. Beyonce sings it her own way, that doesn't mean she wrote it. It's ridiculously messy to think it's fine to tack yourself on to the people who created the composition of the song bc you added some extra runs. That's ridiculous. Singers cover songs ALL the time and completely change them up, yet they don't say they wrote them bc they didn't. They just covered it and made it their own.

I compared Beyonce recording a song, changing one word, and giving herself songwriting credit to someone covering a song and giving themselves songwriting credit.

Vocal production is different from songwriting. Vocal production means producing the vocals, and usually her music director Jason Halbert is the producer for her vocals regardless of the person producing the song.

Vocal arrangement is different from composition.

I think whoever came up with the composition of the song, the lyrics and the melody, deserve songwriting credits. That's songwriting at its core. Adding some riffs and runs is not changing the main base melody of the song.

Also when someone covers a song, you have to get rights to it and there are probably laws about how changing it doesn't give a credit or that if you do change it you don't get any royalties from it unless specified.

This song is not a cover, so it's different.

And until you pull up the royalties you can't really nitpick her for claiming credit for even small stuff she did do.

OMG she still gets credit. Again credits in the booklet for songs isn't just WRITING it's numerous aspects of the making of the song, of course she didn't write silent night but she still gets checks when someone purchases her version because of her vocal arrangements.
