This is something that happens with Hillary a lot. Obama or Bill do something and she's expected to denounce it or defend it but when she simply gives an impartial answer from the president's standpoint, people freak out. and this is part of what cost her the election. she basically ran on being Obama: The Sequel but that puts her in the awkward position of having to defend all of his policies which is a huge liability in a change election year. like the public is yearning for change and her entire message is "nothing is wrong, America is already great, we need more of the same"
also every candidate is made to talk about recent Presidents' policies, and other candidates actually give their opinions on whether those policies are good or bad instead of just restating why those decisions were made. it comes across as disingenuous when you refuse to take a hard and fast position on something, you can't be on the fence about everything
