There is something I did which I thought was brilliant. I did this transition from Again to Nothing because they sound similar, like how she did on American Idol. After Janet says, Lord know i do love you again., it transitions into Nothing.

Her debut is easily better than Discipline. Shoot, Dream Street might even be better. It is a mess, but at least has the bop that is If It Takes All Night. Both definitely have more heart and creative input.

I love her debut A LOT. I'd rather listen to it than AFY, Discipline, and DS.

That's always been in my top 10 favorite Janet songs. One of the few singles she's never performed anywhere. I love the album version more. It used to get so much play on TV and urban radio. Miss those days.

Yaaaaas!! My favorite ballads of hers are Funny How Time Flies, Let's Wait Awhile, Twenty Foreplay, Lonely, Come Back To Me, Truly, and Special.

Truly is such a nice moment on Damita Jo. I love the album so much, but I feel like the more laid back tracks really stand out.

The singles campaign for The Velvet Rope bothers me to no end. I hate that the album can only boast two charting songs. This was probably one of those situations where the label didn't want to mess with her chart record and would rather people buy the album than a single.

Got Til It's Gone, with a properly timed release, could have at least made the Top 15. By then she was a big enough star that it would have sold well even if radio play wasn't outstanding. It was doing good business on R&B/Hip-Hop formats.

Go Deep did a bit better in airplay and nearly made the top ten both on Mainstream Top 40 and R&B/Hip-Hop radio. That could have charted decently as well.

I'm still confused about that too. Promo was on point and even though GTIG is great and had success, pop radio didn't touch it and that affected the intial reaction to the project. I know the album sold better once Together Again was released and the tour kicked off, but GTIG and GD should've had commercial releases. Both did well on radio. I don't understand why they released Every Time though.

Yes, insert those and delete all of the interludes/spoken word except Looking For Love. My biggest complain about the Damita Jo era musically is that the album has too many good b-sides/bonus tracks, but the actually album feels long winded due to the unneeded interludes.

Don't think I've ever seen someone put DJ over Control (Unbreakable is also a huge stretch). Control is possibly her most dated sounding effort next to DS, so I sort of get it, but almost every song is such a smash and it's so short and sweet. Would be hard for me to ever knock it out of her top 4. What don't you like about it?

Also HUGE side eye at putting 20 over AFY. 20 has a couple amazing slow songs, but the uptempos don't compare, and AFY's weak spots aren't nearly as bad as 20's. I just think it's trendy to hate on AFY because we've been enjoying the "Damita Jesus" era too much in this base.
