While reputation plays a part, I think people would suck-it-up and attend if they felt the concert was a huge, must-see show. If the promo and organization isn't on point then they're obviously not going to feel that way

Yup. I think we really underestimate just how important proper promotion is in this day and age. And it starts from the singles and albums. A well-planned, well-organized, seamless rollout = good PR, and that combined with good music = great sales + acclaim which then = people rushing to the tour.

If we look back at the biggest albums of the past 2/3 years (Adele, Drake, Swift, Bieber, Beyonce), the one thing they've all had in common is a strong album rollout.

Facts are:
Rihanna got much better reputation for her performance skills with AWT than DWT.

But DWT had a much better buildup/ promotion than AWT. ( She just came off the VMAs & Diamonds was starting to blowup. Oddly enough I feel she was more visible during DWT overseas.. she actually went out and did tourist things. Actually went to a few promo slots for interviews… all of which helped keep the tour/ her name in the press)

This entire era is her least promoted.
But i'm glad there were no bad reviews for AWT, hopefully it will change her touring reputation.
Because DWT really did leave a bad taste in some peoples mouths.

Whatever happens with Grammy noms next week is what it is BUT can I just say it's real funny that so many predictions have Sia eligible for a ROTY or SOTY nom for Cheap Thrills knowing damn well that if Rihanna had kept the song and recorded it, would be labeled generic and wouldn't even be mentioned as a contender in general field categories. Much like how Work is being dismissed

I've been saying this for quite some time now, overall the critics already have this mindset for Rihanna.
Just seeing how they praise certain artists and albums to the highest and turn around and snub Rihanna for making the same music is so funny to me.

Blonde for example, it's a good album but it's not better than ANTI. But because "Frank Ocean" released it, automatically makes it a critically acclaimed masterpiece, being placed higher than ANTI on most lists.

In the reviews for ANTI some of the critics basically dragged her for trying something different. Which doesn't make sense to me because before they were begging her to come out of her pop phase.

Now that she proved them wrong with this album, i feel like they're still not giving her the full credit she deserves.

I don't think there's anything she could do to become a critical darling and that's fine with me. Some things you just can't change. As long as the quality's there I can't be too upset.

I don't know why, but I am not super excited about the nominations.

I mean I do expect her to snatch some (and hopefully win) but even if they snub her , whatever.
I still can't believe FFS didn't get any recognition.

I am sure we will get at least one of those:

- Shotgun feat. J. Cole (obviously excluded from ANTI, maybe now part of his album, its a midtempo so it could still fit into his own material and album. His last album did not included ANY features and was pretty successful though.)
- Pray 4 Me feat. Big Sean (from the 2014 R8 sessions, he is releasing in Q1 2017, went on tour with her this summer so they could have talked about it)
- Rih being on Drakes new album "More Life" (they recorded new music this summer and I remember some insider on twitter heard one of those songs)
