While you're right in the sense that 25 isn't anywhere near being the best album released in that time period, it's unrealistic to expect the Grammys to disregard commercial success completely and only award based on quality. It's the base of their foundation but it's definitely not what happens in reality so yes, 5 is a HUGE contender for AOTY (and imo Hello has ROTY and SOTY in the bag).

I'm not saying it shouldn't be nominated. I'm saying it shouldn't win. And the Grammys are unpredictable as hell. One minute they award based off of sales and politicking (Swift) and the next is based off on quality and talent (Beck). I mean, at this point, we all know who 3 of the 5 nominees are. I'm just saying who deserves the win more and IMO, it's not 25.

Obviously Adele and Lemonade tick both the commercially successful and critically acclaim boxes. Bowie fills up the old acclaimed legend spot and I think Radiohead are also very very respected and acclaimed.

As for Sia, I'd be pleasantly surprised if she got an AOTY nom. She'd take the Purpose/Views slot. As for Anti, it doesn't stand a chance and honestly doesn't deserve it. Rihanna needs to try harder.

What's strange though is last year when Adele released 25 and it sold like nothing has ever sold before, some claimed her sales would prevent 1889 from winning AOTY, because it sold so much more making it look unimpressive. Fast forward a year later and people are predicting Beyonce to win AOTY over Adele when lemonade hasn't sold half of what 1989 did. They do factor in more then just sales, obviously.

I still think Adele will win, she does not lose many grammy awards she's nominated for.

The Grammys literally seem to change how they make their decisions every year. All our predicting is kind of irrelevant.

All critics have said this. Its not something Bey stans are making up. It's less sexual than ST, which I feel was a bit too bold to win AOTY (I was right) and masterfully intertwines several genres of music to make a consistent body of work that can appeal to all types.

But Lemonade is not winning. She'll win later on in her career when she past her prime and making trash music.

No offense here but I have a bad feeling that Adele will win nothing for big categories.

It's not because she doesn't deserve them but her previous winning in 2012 might be a factor considering the history of Grammy itself for the past years

Similarly, she garnered wins and nominations at several other prestigious award ceremonies. If Beyoncé doesn't win AOTY, I have no other option but to accuse the Academy of blatant racism.

But most people agreed that Blackstar was his best and finest album compared to his previous records.

Yeah, I agree that his death might be a factor for his winning but the quality he served in his last record plays the most important role
