Well, if the labels would release the songs over here at the same time, we might not have that problem. You see, the labels release the songs so late over here, that they are already old and dead overseas, so now all the little hype that grew over here is gone as well. So, now radio stations won't want to play a song that isn't hyped. Which is why it takes forever for international hits to become big over here. I mean, "Bulletproof" was popular in July to most of Europe. Then their label was stupid and thought the U.S. market was like the U.K. market and released a digital release and physical CD and though that's all it would take. The radio adds date didn't come until January 2010, and even then they gave very little exposure to the song. It did get played on
Cougar Town and
Ugly Betty, but both of them were way after the digital release and way before the radio release, so they didn't really help. They got lucky that "In for the Kill" was used in video game commercial in February, which sparked interest in the group, which in turn helped them get noticed on radio, and "Bulletproof," slowly, started to climb.
Now see, if I were a record executive, I would've had "Bulletproof" released in mid to late July to the states and given a radio release during that time, then get them a lot of great television exposure on talk shows, live performance shows, and things like that. I'm sure "Bulletproof" would've been a late summer smash here if they had done that.
