It's constantly on radio (I was surprised it's even a moderate hit on Pop radio), the music video is well known, the song is always used in viral videos, etc.

I abhor these type of 'hits'. They clearly exist and you hit the nail on the head with describing them but straight guys that try to argue that these songs are huge when they are moderate at best.
