I hope the themes in some rounds are more open to interpretation this go around...I like picking my own concepts when I write.

An example would be...write about an emotion of nature; that is ambiguous. I can play around with that make it my own.

A counterexample would be...write about how an old tree feels as it is being cut down; that is more concrete. You are more boxed in with what you can do with that theme. Not that I don't like a challenge...I just want some themes that play to my creative strengths.

Last season had more of the latter, but there's usually a fair balance of the two.

I think it's definitely an interesting round, but I understand it really takes people out of their comfort zone so we can do without it this season.

The premise of the updated one is to, just, generally be 'inspired' and capture the feel of an instrumental. Really quite open to interpretation. Still rather similar to the idea of writing to track except a little less strict
