 As a progressive who voted bernie and didn't support hillary (would have voted for her if my state or any of the downballot options i had stood any chance of going red), I doubt progressives will be as big a factor as you think. A pretty significant portion of them have basically turned on Bernie and 
especially Warren for supporting Hillary, just like they're beginning to cannibalize Keith Ellison for one issue they don't agree with, so I unfortunately think it will be another losing strategy to try and shape a party platform around such petulant and unreliable voters. The party should always pay attention to them if they happen to get mobilized by a candidate like Bernie, but I doubt we'll have a candidate like that for another few election cycles tbh.
