I have a grammar related question, when I talk about a band, group, etc. I always take it as "they", for example Little Mix are, instead of Little Mix is, and it's kinda confusing:

Maroon 5 is releasing a new song vs. Maroon 5 are releasing a new song, I always use the latter, but, am I correct? or?

I'm pretty sure it's singular because you're referring to 1 group. I.e. you can say, Maroon 5 is releasing, but say Maroon 5 and Little Mix are releasing. Despite the group having multiple members, it's still 1 group you're speaking of specifically, so I use is.

not going to lie but mainstream and contemporary R&B is dead for the most part. (it got replaced by PBR&B.) at least in most of the USA. I wish the music scene was like in 2006-2009 where it was diverse and urban music thrived

i never understood any of the opinions of this i usually see. there are either people that think it's all boring or whatever and i don't get that at all because there's a lot of really good R&B music...but at the same time there are people who jam to what's been on R&B radio lately and like the most terrible worthless beats ever with lyrics that are just dumb lines about how great the rapper/singer is and i don't get how anyone could like those songs either :S

i think urban music hasn't had a good millenium, really. R&B and rap really started being garbage when it was dominating so hard in 2001-2004, with only a few good artists surrounded by a lot of popular songs that sucked really badly, and then it started to get better for a few years, only to eventually become mostly irrelevant (and then starting to suck again)

well urban music is on the rise again right now, and it only seems to be going upward right now with billboard adding soundcloud to their charts and streaming taking over (urban artists, esp rap artists, upload their stuff to soundclopud).

I wonder if they'll include datpiff downloads next. maybe a top mixtapes chart with spinrilla and datpiff.
