Trump has no interest in Syria or replacing Assad: he's willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of ISIS i.e. Collaborate with Russia and Assad. The FSA fractured in 2013/2014 to form Islamist offshoots like Jabhat al Nusra and al Zinki (which the US and Saudi Arabia & Qatar fund).

Point is, if he sticks to his word, then the Middle East will definitely simmer down

The state department cuts funding to every rebel group that goes extremist (Like the one that decapitated children). The GOP want to keep Bashar in power and truth is Syrians don't want him and Russia wants him to stay there. Syria is doomed.
