My mom and I called our brother who lives in Tennessee to ask him who he's voting for. He told us that he was voting for Trump and that we should do the same. He was telling my mom, who just this year became a citizen of the US, to not care about other people wanting to come into the country [to have a better life]. I wasn't shocked that he was a Republican, I saw his ass watching Fox News when he came over once, it was how selfish he was that shocked me. He wasn't born and raised in the US, so for him to have no sympathy for others who want the same life he has just had me baffled. I took the phone from my mom and kindly told him to **** off and hung the phone up on him. It's safe to say I won't be speaking to him for a while.

There's no penalty in the USA for not voting. In fact, some political parties actually kind of rely on people not voting so as to stay in power. By demoralizing people (typically younger generations), conservatives for example are able to prolong their terms in office because older voters seem to gravitate more towards conservatism. It's why we have a lot of Republicans in power.

No, we are all in the same room (once you get there from the line). There's about ten polling stations that are walled up so no one can see your ballot and you make your way there when there is an opening.
