The Superbowl did hinder her commercial career, which is when the digital age began.

Her not having any major pop success in the age of iTunes and YouTube has definitely had a negative impact on her legacy.

"Call On Me" was an R&B and dance play success, but only made it to #32 on Pop. "Feedback" did decently on digital and well on dance play, but stalled at #29 on Pop.

The fact that people still come for her for being forgotten despite getting a #1 album / B list pop girl level sales with no promo after a seven year musical hiatus is simply amazing to me. She could be doing a much better job maintaining her image and legacy, but at this point it's pretty obvious that she's respected and loved by a solid fanbase.

Girl. No shade but she's practically irrelevant nowadays. No one uses her hits anymore. Heck, no one even knows her hits. Maybe All For You? Like someone earlier said, her music didn't transition well with the new generation unlike her peers Mariah, Whitney, Celine, etc. She's clearly not superior. Longevity is key. If the term fad ever fit someone perfectly, it's Janet.

Not discrediting her past achievements. Just pointing out that we live in the now and now isn't Janet's time anymore.
