They could block nominations but this is politics, Democrats will never let them live it down and their base will hate them more for further government obstruction.
If Democrats win the Senate on Tuesday then the SC nomination (and the other federal judges) should be easy-pleasey. The House isn't important here although that's likely to stay Republicans.
