President: Sign or veto bills, announce wars, sign executive orders that bypass Congress, nominate Supreme Court judges that must be approved by the Senate.

Basics:
President (Executive branch): Enforces the laws
Congress (Legislative branch): Writes the laws
Supreme Court (Judicial branch): Interprets the laws

Congress can push a bill that pass both houses (Senate and House of Representatives). The President either sign that bill or veto it. If the President veto it, the Congress can override it with a 2/3 majority vote.
The President is also Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Basically he's responsible for the safety of our nation. But he need to get Congress to ratify treaties and declare war as well as notifying them of sending troops.
Foreign Policy is where the president is probably the "freest." He or she must maintain foreign relations.
The President is allowed a cabinet, can grant pardons/commuted sentences, nominate federal judges including the Supreme Court, signs Executive Orders (which is useful for bypassing Congress). He's responsible for a budget that Congress must approve.
This is a simple 3 am (4 am mindset) explanation I can offer

Thanks sistrens but if it's like in Italy, the president without a majority in congress has basically no power internally. In most nations the congress is elected and then the congress elects the president.
We need the public to vote for the congress!
It seems to me the the pouts can really only dictate foreign policy and choose civil servants, all this crazy mess for nothing! We need the democrats to invest in the congress!

A president doesn't need the chambers to get things done. They can take several routes:
1) Executive actions. Must be within the Constitution.
2) His/her cabinet, different agencies, etc. have powers as well that can bypass Congress.
3) With a liberal leaning Supreme Court, a lot of his/her programs can be upheld.
Also you know Republicans and Democrats are suppose to work together in the interest of the people. They have sidetracked recently, but historically, we've been able to compromise. All we need are a few GOP members to stop obstructing and we'll be better off.

It honestly says a lot about a person if they support Trump. You can't support someone who says the things he says without you yourself believing and agreeing with those things. It puts those people in a new light for me and exposes them. Makes me honestly want to reconsider associating myself with them.

Oh, I knew that. I'm just concerned the current margin won't be a big enough buffer to offset the huge increase in Trump's support among white people on election day

If more than ~225,000 show up on election day and most of them vote Democrat, then we'll be good. I'd also take peeps at Forsyth County, and Watauga county to see where they are in the election.

Need I remind you that Assad caused way, way more civilian deaths? They're mostly fleeing Assad. Assad supporters in ISIS territory simply flee to land under Asssd's control.
The thing with terrorist attacks is that right now there's tens of thousands of fighters for ISIS in Syria/Iraq. What will they do when all ISIS territory is gone? You think they'll just go home and wait for the next terrorist group to join? They'll start planning way more terrorist attacks.
