Mess at the fallacies.
Janet was after sales success otherwise she wouldn't have released 7-8 singles per era which was even surpassing the typical 5-6 singles back in the day.
She wasn't after FAME.
Janet was smart enough to work an album for 2 years and then take a year off and live and learn and incorporate it into her music. Musical reinventions without madonna's controversy gimmicks.
That said, as soon as Janet eclipsed Madonna for an era Janet. (1993) she showed her shady ways shading Madonna.
Janet had bops and was great at reinventing herself musically and visually BUT
she really was as Prince said A geniuses sister.
that's how many looked at her because MJ was such a genius and Janet was...well, not.
Janet appeared better as MJ appeared weirder and they at least gave her credit for being the "normal one"
no way was that ever equated to being the queen of pop or even being top 3 in biggest impact amongst female singers.
