Nah, her team was smart. LOTB hasn't had a year to smash and become 'familiar' w/ Grammy voters. If her team is smart, they'll allow it to run it's course for the remainder of this year/Quarter and if it it becomes a hit, then release a 'live version' and submit it for next year. Similar to what Adele would do.

I think her team was smart. WORK and Needed Me were her obvious smashes from this album and voters will be very familiar with those songs. Don't want to confuse them.

I've seen a lot of people worried about her playing a stereotype cause of the dreads () and it only intensified with this outfit. And yet all of these pictures are described as "arriving on set" and Rich + the new assistant are with her. Bless the navy's heart tbh

Her Grammy submission is Perfect. LOVE on the BRAIN is eligible next year because:

1. IT's POP RADIO RELEASE is OCTOBER 11th

IObviously thats going to be her General Field and Pop Solo submission next year. Submitting it this year would be pointless . Thats what ****ed up Diamond's potential to win.

Thinking Out Loud was released June 2014 yet it won Song of the Year at the 2016 Grammys because the song didnt blow up until after the Grammy period closed. Also, Ed was smart to not submit it for 2015.

There's a trailer behind her in some pictures so that very well could've been her costume for the day.

Personally I'm on the fence. At first glance yeah the whole ensemble reinforces the idea that all ppl from the Carribbean have dreads, smoke weed, etc. But without a plot I dont think anyone should be overreacting

So if Rih is embracing her Caribbean culture I just hope the directors are doing it in good taste. If anything I'm side eyeing their intentions.

LOTB submission or lack thereof is a really interesting debate.

It's risky cause we don't know what will happen to the song in coming months regarding its chart placement.

Interesting you mention pop category; nothing about that song says Pop to me. The heavy soul inspiration is new to Rih and that's why I thought she'd fit nicely in Traditional R&B. Sorta shake things up

I think it would be in her best interest to film an epic video or at least give one more killer performance IF they are gonna push for it at next years Grammy. Just so it stays fresh on people minds through the year.

But again because Rih/her team can be so unpredictable they very well could pay it dust and not even submit to 2018 Grammy. They're not the brightest bulbs in the pack.

We see how wrong they did Diamonds and BBHMM for the VMAs.

In a Perfect World, for the Video she re-records the song and make it more Soundtracky and use it for the Fity Shades Darker soundtrack as the lead single. The song would be perfect for the film. Submit LOTB to the Oscars in 2018 for Best Original Song. Oscar > Grammy.

The radio release has nothing to do with the Grammy deadline tho(album tracks can be nominated too)
The main requirement for a song to be elegible is that it's put up for sale during the deadline for a certain Grammy year.
The only posibility is a live/tour/remix version released between September2016 and 2017

Album tracks can be nominated IF they are submitted; again you're wrong. There's plenty of songs that came out during a particular Grammy period but nominated for periods after because they were not submitted or deemed eligible under certain circumstances. I said that Thinking Out Loud was available on iTunes June 2014. If that was the case it wouldn't have been nominated and Win this year for 2016 Song of the Year. The only reason why people submit live versions is if they submitted the song already or the song is from a Grammy winning album and that version isn't eligible to be nominated in a performance category.


Plus, thats not the reason why Beyoncé wasnt nominated for Best Original Song.

1. It wasnt the first song that played after the credits after the movie. Thats usually the giveaway to be eligible.
2. It didnt have a chance to begin with.
3. MY LOTB Fifty Shades theory wasnt something to be taken seriously.

By saying that album tracks could be nominated i meant that in order to snatch a nom they don't necessarily need to be sent to radios.

Recording Academy members and record companies enter recordings and music videos released during the eligibility year which they consider worthy of recognition in the GRAMMY Awards process.

There may be some loopholes but "on paper" a record(in any of its versions) in order to be nominated shuld have been released during its eligibity year.
As you mentioned TOL was released in June 2014 but it got nominated 2 years
later just like it happened with Love on Top and All Of Me which(propably) means they submitted a version different from the ones that were on their respectives single/album packages.
You are right about the Oscars tho
