However, the better iTunes position shouldn't lead to it charting any higher than last year; sales have a smaller influence on the Hot 100 now than they did last December. Moreover, Christmas falls on a less favorable day this year than it did last year. Last year, it fell on a Friday, so the week leading to the holiday was almost perfectly aligned with the sales & streaming tracking weeks. This year, it falls on a Sunday, so sales & streaming activity from December 23 until Christmas will count towards a different tracking week than activity from December 16 to December 22.
