Kerber is a cute #1 and a nice girl. She's been inconsistent, but she played well when it mattered most, so I think her rank is well deserved.

I do think it will be hard for her to maintain the #1 rank, though, unless she plays more consistently next year. Serena will be coming for blood from the get-go assuming she has recovered from her injury.

Australian Open will be super important. If Serena doesn't win there and or Angie gets far she will have a nice lead going into a rather long stretch where she didn't win anything.

If Serena wins AO and Angie loses fairly early we can have Serena back at #1 right away.

Give her a healthy start and she could easily reach 30 weeks or even tackle Mauresmo.

Kerber is the interim #1 in the phase between Serena and the next BIG superstar of the tour.

She has never really sustained a long period of dominance so I'm not surprised it's so little but 21 weeks is a little...underwhelming for someone of her stature.

I don't think Azarenka will be top 10 next year. She won't be coming back until the USO 2017 so unless she wins the USO (or goes deep and does very well post USO) I'm not sure she'll make top 10. Those other girls can be top 10 though.
